Standards & Accreditation - New Zealand

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of New Zealand (NZICA) represents 28,000 members, both domestic and international.

The membership is divided into two categories: Chartered Accountant (CA) and Accounting Technicians (AT). The latter designation was first introduced in 1995 to recognize the knowledge and skills of technical accounting staff. AT's perform different tasks in an organization, including support for CAs, senior or self-managed roles, accounting, and other financial functions.

The NZICA is the governing body responsible for ensuring the proper conduct of its members and for setting accounting standards. The Institute is divided into five regions and 18 branches. Special interest groups are organized according to their specialization, for example, Management, Business Development, and Public Practice. There are also international branches in the United Kingdom and Australia.
